3. The Voice Of The Shepherd

1. 3 – The sheep listen to his voice
2. 4 – They know his voice (& follow)
3. 5 – Run away because they don’t recognize a stranger’s voice

1. There is only one leader worthy of following with your whole life.

Jesus is worthy because we can hear his voice.

2. Scripture Meditation:  Sitting with the words of God in the presence of God in order to form the heart for faithful living.

4. There is only one leader worthy of following with your whole life.

Jesus is worthy because he alone has sacrificial strength.

1. Read John 10:7-21

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:11

See also verses 15, 17 “I lay down my life.”

No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again.  John 10:18a

1. When a Palestinian shepherd did die in defense of his sheep, that was an accident (and a tragedy). For he planned to live for them, not die for them. The death of a Palestinian shepherd meant disaster for his sheep. (For who was to protect them with their shepherd dead?) Yet, in God’s wonderful strength, the death of the Good Shepherd means life for his sheep.  – Leon Morris
