Habit #2 – EAT
To intentionally share a meal, drink or snack with someone who does not know Jesus so that you become closer.
BIG IDEA
The simple act of eating with others deepens connections and dramatizes the welcome of God.
“Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? Go figure out what this Scripture means: ‘I’m after mercy, not religion.’ I’m here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders.”
Eugene Peterson in The Message
Matthew 9:12-13

Hospitality = Phileoxenia
(in New Testament Greek)
phileo + xenos
love + stranger
-----------------------------
Many of us, along with our churches, are getting fat with meals we still label fellowship. But we are not growing. The difference is in whom we invite to the table.

The primary way the Roman empire became Christian was through hospitality.

Saying ‘yes’ to Love Moves
Habit #2 – Eat may mean:
1.Saying no to friends and family.
2.Saying yes to stepping out of your comfort zone.
3.Saying yes to vulnerability.
--------------------------------------
God presents Himself to (us) as a hospitable God, a welcoming God through Christ's permanent, heavenly intercession.
What we do, then, in our own hospitality is simply to mirror in our relationships the openness and access that we have already experienced with our Father…
By faith we open our homes and hearts to others just as God has opened His welcoming salvation to us.
-John Miller
