Topic: Why God is the G.O.A.T. Passage: Genesis 3:1, Genesis 2:15–17, Genesis 3:2–13, Genesis 3:21, Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:1–9, Psalm 32:3, Genesis 32:5, Hebrews 12:5–6, Hebrews 12:11, Psalm 103:1–4, Psalm 103:11–13

Sin is the missing of a target, a wandering from the path, a straying from the fold. Sin is a hard heart and a stiff neck. Sin is blindness and deafness.

Cornelius Plantinga Jr. -Not The Way It’s Supposed To Be

It is both the overstepping of a line and the failure to reach it - both transgressions and shortcoming. Sin is a beast crouching at the door … these and other images (are used in the Bible to describe sin).

Let us say that a sin is any act - any thought, desire, emotion, word or deed - or its particular absence, that displeases God and deserves blame.

Let us add that the disposition to commit sins also displeases God and deserves blame, and let us therefore use the word sin to refer to such instances of both act and disposition.

Sin is a culpable and personal affront to a personal God.

Cornelius Plantinga Jr. - Not The Way It’s Supposed To Be

How Can We Respond?

1.Gratitude

2.When you see your sin, be contrite. But not defeated.

3.Accept the Lord’s structure and discipline

4.Live in worship and awe of the real G.O.A.T
