In Galatians 5:1 Paul says, “It is for freedom that Christ as set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” For that congregation, it was a reminder that they no longer were bound by the regulations of the Old Testament law. A short time later in the same chapter he says, ‘You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love’ (Galatians 5:13).
